Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take for me to get my website up?
That all depends on how committed you are to learn. For me, I can get a website up and running within 8 hours. And that is with all the graphics and images. But realistically for beginners, you can achieve having your basic website up over the weekend. The biggest chunk of time is customizing the theme that you choose. Just remember that prior to starting the website, you should map out your website and have all the content ready to cut and paste, such as the about page, the services page, etc. Make sure you soak it all in and remember to take the time and ENJOY the process!
What programs do I need to start?
✓ Design Software (Adobe Photoshop or Canva.com is a nice to have, but not crucial, however you will eventually need a graphic editing software to add images to your website).
✓ A web browser such as Chrome or Safari.
Do I need to have an eye for design?
You should know how to navigate the internet, know some technical terminology, have time commitment, and a willingness to learn.
Do I need to have programming skills?
If you want to make a basic website, then no. But don't worry, I will go over some basic HTML tags with you.
How much will it cost besides this course fee?
You will also need to pay for a:

• Domain
• Web Hosting
• Web Security (optional and recommended)
• Custom Website Theme (optional)
Depending on what options you get and length of term, you are looking between $70 - $400 a year. I will teach you step by step on how and where to get these.
When does the course start and finish?
The course starts now and never ends! It is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish.

About a Lady named This Design Girl
Hey, My name is Marina. And I am here to help aspiring Aspiring Creatives, Entrepreneurs, Marketers and Anyone Else who wants to dabble in the wonderful world of design.

Back in the Stone Ages
From the age of 7, I knew that Art and Design would be a part of me for the rest of my life. I started drawing and painting, and was known as an “artist” by my peers. When I was 18, I decided to choose a more technical aspect to design. I was placed in a co-op work environment in the graphics department of a large leading bank where Corel 3.0 was the leading design program fueled by the 486 computer. Stock photos were ordered via a mail in order system and artwork was rendered through mechanical paste-up, ruby film and an Xacto knife, and camera ready art.

In 1994, “Desktop Publishing” and the “Information Superhighway” came to be, and I became infatuated with design and typography. I received my Honours Degree in Fine Arts in 1999.

Over the next decade, I’ve worked with a variety of companies ranging from Photo/Video studios, Children’s Publishing, IT, Print Houses and Multimedia + Interactive Design Studios, where I started building websites with Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia DreamWeaver and animated GIFS.

In 2007, I decided to take a permanent maternity leave and started freelancing in design. In the span of 10 years, I have created a few companies where I get to express my creativity.
